Project Objectives
Scoping Review: To (1) explore clinician's attitudes towards peer support for patients with chronic non-cancer pain, (2) explore how the availability of peer support for community dwelling adults with chronic non-cancer pain impacts how clinicians are able to deliver care, (3) describe how peer support programs complement the care for patients with chronic non-cancer pain, and (4) explore the impacts of offering peer support for adults with chronic non-cancer pain on peer facilitator well-being; Systematic Review: To identify the effectiveness of peer support interventions in community-dwelling adults with chronic non-cancer pain.

Virginia McIntyre
Virginia McIntyre is the President and Executive Director of the People In Pain Network and Chair of the Canadian Pain Society (CPS) PWLE Committee. She works extensively as a lived experience partner on research projects, pain initiatives, and is a proud member on several committees which include; Pain Canada National Advisory Committee, the Canadian Pain Society Communication Committee, and Atlantic Mentorship Network Advisory Committee. Virginia is a public presenter and advocate focusing on pain-related topics with committed diligence to increase awareness of chronic pain and the importance of pain resources, including peer support.
Jennifer Donnan
Dr. Jennifer Donnan is an Assistant Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland, in the School of Pharmacy. She is also a pharmacist and teaches in the areas of Pharmacy Practice and Evidence Based Medicine. Her research interests are in health policy, drug safety and effectiveness, and integrating patient preferences into health care decisions. She also loves to foster a passion for evidence based medicine with the undergraduate pharmacy students.
