Proposed Method/Science |
Qualitative – Participatory Research with trauma-informed intersectional analysis |
Project Summary |
The 2015 Truth and Reconciliation Commission called for a need to close the gap in access to appropriate healthcare services for Indigenous communities. This participatory research project with a trauma-informed intersectional analysis will create knowledge that will be used to inform the co-creation of child health resources for Métis parents based on both Western and Indigenous knowledge. Meetings across Manitoba will serve as a platform for stakeholder engagement and participant identification, serving as a means to obtaining input from stakeholders for the aim of research question framing and prioritization. |
Anticipated Impact |
Findings will create new knowledge for researchers and the Manitoba Métis Federation on inclusive engagement practices with individuals who may face barriers to accessing healthcare and/or are traditionally less heard in research. This knowledge will be used by the applicant to inform the co-creation of child health resources for Métis parents based on both Western and Indigenous knowledge. |
