Our central coordinating team is based at our main office in Toronto, Ontario at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital. This team manages and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the Alliance.
(MPH) Research Manager
Wasifa Zarin (MPH) is the research manager of the SPOR Evidence Alliance and is located at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital. She holds a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. She has a strong interest in the science of evidence synthesis and its uptake in the decision-making process. She has been working with Dr. Tricco and Dr. Straus since 2014 and has contributed to a range of knowledge synthesis products, including scoping reviews, systematic reviews and rapid reviews in the areas of complex interventions, drug safety and effectiveness, as well as research methodology.
Wasifa manages the Alliance’s day-to-day operations, including management of the query service, monitoring progress and reporting to appropriate committees for ongoing strategic direction and recommendations, overseeing all data collection for reporting purposes, and contributing to the development and implementation of all Alliance initiatives and activities.
(MSc) Lead Research Coordinator
Sonia Thomas (MSc) is the lead research coordinator for the SPOR Evidence Alliance. She holds a Master of Epidemiology degree from Western University. She has been working with Drs. Tricco and Straus, as part of the Knowledge Translation Program at St. Michael’s Hospital for the past 4 years. She has experience working with various stakeholders on systematic reviews, rapid reviews, and scoping reviews in the areas of complex interventions, and drug safety and effectiveness, as well as methodology projects to advance the science of knowledge synthesis and promote the uptake of evidence for decision-making.
Sonia supports the day-to-day operations of the Alliance, including query management, knowledge user engagement, communications, governance, monitoring and reporting, and providing input on all Alliance initiatives and activities.
(BSocSc, MPH(c)) Lead Research Assistant
Shazia Siddiqui (BSocSc, MPH(c)) is the lead research assistant for the Central Support Office of the SPOR Evidence Alliance. She has an Honours Bachelors in Social Sciences from the University of Ottawa, and is currently enrolled at the University of Liverpool as an MPH student focusing on qualitative research in management strategies provided by diverse health care providers in treating patients with narcolepsy and improving quality of life.
She provides all logistical and administrative support for the Alliance’s day-to-day operations, including monthly newsletter dissemination, managing the Alliance’s calendar and committee meetings, minute-taking, as well as managing all general inquiries and external communications.
