Our central coordinating team is based at our main office in Toronto, Ontario at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital. This team manages and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the Alliance.
Wasifa Zarin (MPH) is the research manager of the SPOR Evidence Alliance and is located at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital. She holds a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. She has a strong interest in the science of evidence synthesis and its uptake in the decision-making process. She has been working with Dr. Tricco and Dr. Straus since 2014 and has contributed to a range of knowledge synthesis products for decision-makers locally (Ontario Drug Policy Research Network), nationally (Health Canada), and internationally (World Health Organization) using a range of methodologies.
Wasifa manages the Alliance’s day-to-day operations, including management of the query service, monitoring progress and reporting to appropriate committees for ongoing strategic direction and recommendations, overseeing all data collection for reporting purposes, and contributing to the development and implementation of all Alliance initiatives and activities.
Lead Research Coordinator
Sonia Thomas (MSc) is the lead research coordinator for the SPOR Evidence Alliance. She holds a Master of Epidemiology degree from Western University. She has worked with Drs. Tricco and Straus, as part of the Knowledge Translation Program at St. Michael’s Hospital since 2014. Her knowledge synthesis experience includes systematic reviews, rapid reviews, and scoping reviews in the areas of complex interventions and drug safety & effectiveness, in addition to methodology projects to advance the science of knowledge synthesis and promote the uptake of evidence for decision-making.
Sonia supports the day-to-day operations of the Alliance, including the query services, governance activities, communications, monitoring and reporting, and providing input on Alliance activities.
Lead Research Assistant
Sinit Michael (HBSc) is the lead research assistant for the Central Support Office of the SPOR Evidence Alliance. She holds an Honours Bachelors in Science degree from the University of Toronto. She has experience working with various research teams at the Knowledge Translation and the Centre of Urban Solutions department at St. Michael’s Hospital, in addition to the SPOR Evidence Alliance.
She provides administrative support for the Alliance’s day-to-day operations, including monthly newsletter dissemination, managing the Alliance’s calendar and committee meetings, meeting agendas, as well as managing all general inquiries and external communications.
Sabrina Chaudhry (MPH) is a research coordinator with the SPOR Evidence Alliance. She holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Saskatchewan. She has experience in systematic reviews, scoping reviews, clinical trials research, and quantitative data analysis. She has an interest in health systems strengthening, and health policy.
Sabrina supports the day-to-day operations of the Alliance, including the research query services, governance activities, communications, monitoring and reporting, and providing input on Alliance initiatives and activities.
